Angela (Paludo) Caselli

Angela (Paludo) Caselli

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother Angela on June 18, 2021, at the age of 95. Cherished wife of the late Alfredo Caselli. Loving mother to the late Giuliana (Antonio), the late Anna Maria, Silvio (Rose), and Linda (Allen). Adored Nonna to Lisa, Michael, and Lucas. Daughter to the late Isidoro and Anna Paludo. Adored youngest sister of the late Nando and Mina Paludo, Luisa and Tino Belacca, and Laura and Gino Belacca. Daughter-in-law of the late Camilo and Silvestrina Caselli. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Born in Codroipo, Udine Angela lost her father when she was only 2 years old. Her mother then took her four children to the larger city of San Giovanni, Marignano where she had family to help raise the kids. After losing her mom, Angela decided to leave her hometown in 1956, at the age of 30, and immigrated to Canada to then meet and fall in love with Alfredo and to start a new life and family in Hamilton, ON. Angela spent over 70 years mastering her profession in Italy and Canada as a dressmaker, working at Foster’s , Ross’s, and Marvin Caplans to name a few. She even worked alongside Alfredo at Fashion Craft for many years. She often worked late into the night on impeccable pieces for her clients and children. Her greatest design was her daughter Giuliana’s wedding gown. Angela was an amazing cook with a specialty in traditional Italian dishes, and absolutely everyone loved her sugo! She also enjoyed knitting, playing cards, and singing old Italian songs. For Angela family comes first was her virtue; she always put her children’s needs before her own and often said they were her greatest accomplishment. Being a Nonna became her life’s purpose at the age of 65 and she never missed a soccer game, dance recital, or graduation. Her three grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Ma/Nonna was the matriarch of our family, someone we all turned to when we needed a helping hand, advice, or just someone to talk to. She is now reunited with her loving husband and beloved daughters and she will forever live in the hearts of her family and friends. Her presence will never be forgotten because we will forever love and cherish the beautiful memories in our hearts. We are all better people for having had her in our lives.

Our sincere thanks to Amica Stoney Creek and the Hamilton General Hospital for the care and assistance she received.
