Anna Mary (Kostelac) Gustin

Anna Mary (Kostelac) Gustin

It is with great sadness that the family of Anna Gustin announce her passing on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 after a brief illness at the age of 80 years. Anna passed away peacefully in the loving arms of her daughters, in her home. Predeceased by her husband, Joseph Anthony Gustin (1998). Lovingly remembered by her daughters, Susan (Andrew) and Lilly (Jake) and their children, Joseph, Nicholas and Michael.

She loved her grandsons with everything in her heart and soul. They gave her so much joy and she was very proud of them. Predeceased by her 4 younger brothers, who passed in their toddler years. Predeceased by her older brother, Joseph Kostelac (2019). Predeceased by her sister Dragica Radecic (a day earlier). Beloved Aunt to Zlatko and John Radecic, Lydia Cracknell (Grant) and John Kostelac (France) with daughter, Amy. Anna was a devout Catholic lady who had great faith and loved God with all of her heart.

She loved going to church daily. Praying the Bible and the Rosary made up most of her days. She loved going on church retreats and once ventured to France on her own without knowing a soul. She attended almost every church in Hamilton, and Stoney Creek area. She prayed daily for all her relatives that passed before her. She was an avid gardener and loved sharing her vegetables and fruits with others. She would prune her pear tree and grapevine all by herself. She will be missed by all of her family in B.C. Quebec, US and Croatia, as well as all of her many friends, especially her best friend and confidant, Rozina Zadrevac, with whom she had marathon phone conversations.

Anna would want nothing more than for Masses to be performed at St. Eugene’s and St. Charles Garnier for the repose of her soul. Anna always made food donations for the less fortunate so any donations to the local food banks would be appreciated by the family. A special thank you to Father Saju (St. Charles Garnier) and Father Andrew (St. Eugene’s) for her confession, Holy Communion and last rites. Thank you also to the PSW’s, Mandy, Mary and Nancy for their loving care.
