Doreen Ann (Arnold) NORDOFF

Doreen Ann (Arnold) NORDOFF

Peacefully surrounded by her loving children on June 12, 2021, in her 84th year, our mother was reunited with our father Ron. Devoted and loving mother of Darlene (Paul), Kelly, Wendy (John), and Ron (Karen). Cherished Nana of Shannon (Chris), Chelsea, Jesse (Anthony), Jeff (Campbell), Zachary, Emma, Adam and Abbey. Adored Gigi to great-grandson, Colton. Predeceased by granddaughters Olivia and Shania. Her grandchildren and great-grandson meant the world to her.

Doreen was the eldest of nine children and took the role of “big sister” very seriously. She was always ready with a helping hand especially with her younger brothers. Survived and will be greatly missed by her siblings Eleanor, Bill, Bernie (Joanne), Ron and Walter (Sue). Predeceased by her sister Margaret, brothers Bob (Lil) and Doug (Marilyn), sisters-in-law Valorie and Penny, and brother-in-law Hugh. Doreen will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews and her close friends Rick and Bridie.

She met our father Ron and raised four children together in a home filled with love, laughter and many family pets. We have learned to be strong, resilient, compassionate, kind and loving, simply because our mother was. (Stubborn too!). Family vacations and family get togethers will be greatly missed but fondly remembered. Mom always took pride in her gardens which bloomed from spring until late fall. She passes on her culinary and baking skills to her family which will continue to be enjoyed by future generations. Mom was also quite skilled in ceramics, and her attention to detail showed her passion and perfectionism in her pieces.

Mom worked at Westinghouse as a teen in the factory and at Loblaws and Dominion as a head cashier, but the job she was most proud of was as a homemaker and mother. Mom was a dedicated fan to all of her children and grandchildrens’ sporting events and school functions. She was also the manager for the Hamilton Tykes Huskie team for many years along with her husband, coach Ron.

Her beautiful and powerful singing voice will always be remembered filling the church at many family weddings, singing Ave Maria and Let There Be Peace On Earth.

Now our mom can continue her love story with her handsome man.

The family would like to thank the staff at Village of Wentworth Heights for all their wonderful care as she considered you her extended family. A special thanks goes to Sara and Suma, the nursing staff in Scotsdale, Michelle, Atif, Susan and Chin, the dedicated and beautiful PSW’s, and also to Jeri and Michelle (AKA Mitchell).

Cremation has taken place and due to COVID-19 restrictions, a memorial will be planned for at a later date. Please check the Funeral Home website periodically for the Memorial Service details.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Parkinson’s Association would be greatly appreciated by the family.
