It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing away of George on May 25, 2021 in St. Peter’s Hospital in his 88th year. George’s smile and warm heart will be remembered forever by his loving wife Verna and his children Gerry & Don (Tammy). He was a wonderful grandpa to Samuel, Cody (Kirsty) and Ashley nee Farewell (Quinn) and great grandpa to Kyleigh, Alexis, Caroline, Hailey, and Morgan. George is survived by his siblings John “Jack” and Pat Keenan. He will be fondly remembered by Verna’s siblings Marian Spahr, Norma Spahr, Barb Noonan, Linda Spahr, Jeanne (Mike) Wright, Ken (Rose) Spahr, and Alan Spahr as well as by many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
George is predeceased and now joins his sons John (2020) and Douglas (1964), and his brothers-in-law Bill, Lloyd, Jim and Barry.
George worked for many years for the City of Hamilton and enjoyed his time at the track racing stock cars. He was president of the Hamilton East, Stoney Creek and Hamilton Centre Lions Clubs.
A private visitation and Funeral will take place at the LG Wallace Funeral Home (151 Ottawa St. N 905-544-1147) and interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
