Mary CHANTRELL

Mary CHANTRELL

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Chantrell on June 16, 2021 at the age of 90.

Predeceased by her siblings Bill Chantrell, Joan Reynolds (John), John Chantrell (Shirley), Bob Chantrell and Fred Chantrell. Survived by her sisters-in-law Joan, Jean and Ann Chantell as well as many nieces and nephews in Leicester, England. Mary emigrated to Canada in the 1950’s and taught Geography at Hill Park High School for numerous years. Mary became one of the first female principals for the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board.

She enjoyed travelling over the world where she enjoyed skiing. Also, Mary will be lovingly remembered for being an avid gardener. She was a longtime member of the Hamilton Zonta Club II. She will be deeply missed by her many friends that she made over the years. Mary was a very generous person with a big heart. Throughout her life she donated to many organizations in her community. She helped sponsor a family who lived in Kosovo and brought them to Canada to help them build a better life.

Special thanks to Valbono and Bekim Avdullahu for their continued love and support for Mary.
Specials thanks to the staff at Macassa Lodge Long Term Care Home who cared for Mary in her final days. Donations can be made to Hamilton Zonta Club II in Mary’s memory. Keeping with Mary’s wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no Funeral Service. A Celebration of Life will be held once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
