(February 3, 1943 – January 17, 2021).
Our family is brokenhearted to announce the passing of loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, Tony Florio at the age of 77. Tony was born in Hamilton, the son of the late Manfredo (Mons) and Concetta (Tina). He was the oldest of three, joined later by his younger brother Frank (Francesca of Stoney Creek) and sister Mary (Neil Doyle of Hagersville). He met the love of his life, Marnie and they recently celebrated 55 happy years together.
They remained as in-love with each other as when they were first married and treasured every moment they were together. They are proud parents to Tony (Mary-Evelyn Lather of Waterloo) and enthusiastic grandparents to Andrew and Jacob. Being a Dad and Grandpa was the best gift — and priceless! Tony will be dearly missed by those of us lucky enough to know and love him. In addition to the family mentioned above, Tony leaves behind his brother-in-law, Chris Biniek (Marie Josie of Montreal), a loving extended family, friends from the running and golf communities, great neighbours, former colleagues from Stelco, and a lifetime of friends.
We’ll miss his sense of humour, joyful laugh, zest for life, intelligence, determination, devotion and strong spirit. Those who knew him witnessed first-hand a life truly well-lived. A private family service will be held at Smith’s Funeral Home on January 23, 2021. Because of COVID-19, this will be followed by a celebration of life when we can once again gather to share memories.
