FROOM, BARBARA ELLEN Barbara passed away peacefully at Vermont Square Long Term Care on September 26, 2018 at the age of 92.
One of Canada’s most respected popular naturalists, Barbara was the author of three books: The Snakes of Canada, The Turtles of Canada, The Amphibians of Canada. She was a founding member and longtime editor of the Canadian Amphibian and Reptile Conservation Society and an active member of the Canadian Association of Herpetologists. In 1975 she was honoured as one of Canada’s “Women in the Sciences” by the National Museum of Natural Sciences.
Barbara is survived by her brother Allan Froom, niece Susan Froom and nephews David and Stephen Froom. Visitation at St. Monica’s Church, 44 Broadway Ave., at 9:30 a.m. followed by funeral service at 10:30 a.m. and interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
