Bartolomeo Amati

It is with great sadness that the family of Bartolomeo Amati announces his passing after a long, brave struggle with Parkinson’s, on the evening of Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at 85 years of age.

Bartolo will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Antonia, and his children Joanne (Louie) and Anna (John). Bartolo will also be fondly remembered by his four grandchildren, Crescenzo, Adam, Joseph, and Vanessa. Dear brother to Tony (Carmela), Ignazio (Luigina), Nicola (Irena), Graziella (Giuseppe) Maria (Agostino) and Francesco (Dolorata). Fondly remembered by his nephews John and Paul and his many nieces and nephews in Italy.

A special thank you to the wonderful care received from his nurse Sue from St. Elizabeth Health Care who helped Papa this last year and half. A special thank you to his family doctor – Dr. Gary Liss. Finally a very special thank you to his PSWs Maria and Gemma for the tender care they provided.

Bartolo was born in Cisternino, Brindisi. In 1959 Bartolo immigrated to Canada with his new wife and settled in Toronto. He moved to his home in Downsview in 1969 where he remained for almost 50 years. Bartolo worked for Swift Meat Packers for 25 years and then worked in construction for Townwood Homes until his retirement at age 61.

Bartolo loved fishing, hunting, gardening and cooking. He was a wonderful husband, kind and generous father, and gentle and doting grandfather. He will be greatly missed. Daddy we love you and will never forget you!
