BEAUSEJOUR, Ann (née Cummings)

BEAUSEJOUR, Ann (née Cummings) Born in Humberstone, Ontario to Walter and Christina Cummings in 1928, Ann grew up in Guelph and Hamilton. She lives on in the hearts and minds of her son, Pierre (Patricia), grandchildren Nicolas and Camille, her sister Irene and her numerous friends.

After the sudden death of her husband, Gilbert, in 1962, Ann, with much determination, reinvented herself by returning to teachers college and university where she received her teaching diploma and a fine arts degree. She spent the rest of her career dedicated to teaching art at St. Mary’s High School in Hamilton. Some of her proudest moments occurred when, long retired, a student from the past would declare her to be the finest teacher they ever had.

Ann was a fine drawer, but drew seldom. Like Monet, Ann believed her garden was her best artwork. Ann travelled the world and appreciated the art and people of many cultures. She shared her enthusiasm and knowledge with her students and acquired many like-minded friends along the way. She loved books but even more so her book club; with all her passions, it was sharing experiences and time with friends and family that gave her the most joy.

A Celebration of Ann’s Life will be held in the Spring.
