Brian Alexander WHITE

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brian Alexander White on December 13, 2020, surrounded at home by his family at the age of 74. Beloved husband of Dorothy (Prizrenac), and cherished father who will be forever missed by his loving children, Lindsay and Cameron.

Brian acquired his love of music from his father Ralph and mother Gertrude (Turvey), and performed for many years in Toronto-area blues and jazz bands. He continued his passion for composing and recording music while pursuing his academic interests.

He received his B.Sc. from the University of Toronto (1972), M.Sc. in Theoretical Physics (McMaster, 1974), and B.A.Sc. in Electrical Engineering (University of Waterloo, 1987), along with numerous awards and medals throughout. He passed his love for music and education on to both of his children, and enjoyed reading along and doing problem sets with them in their undergrad and graduate courses.

His career included: Systems Analyst (Westinghouse), Electrical Engineer (Control Data), and Research Associate in Electrical and Computer Engineering (University of Waterloo), until his retirement in 2015. He was a proud lifetime member of IEEE since 1987, and an eternally optimistic Leafs fan. Thank you to Dr. Antoniuk, Dr. Peters, Dr. Neville, and Dr. Dayes for their care and support. A private family funeral was held on December 18 and Brian was laid to rest at Woodland Cemetery.
