Burkhard Eric (Rick) STEINBERG

STEINBERG, Burkhard Eric (Rick) Burkhard Eric Steinberg, known to all as Rick, died on October 29th at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto. He was 92 and had been ailing for the last three months.

Born in Leipzig in 1926, his family fled Nazi Germany to England where, in 1955, Rick received a masters in literature from King’s College, Cambridge. Rick and his wife Jean moved to Toronto in 1971. As a businessmen he had worked in the record industry in Europe and the US for over a decade. He retired from Eaton Bay Financial as a Vice President in the mid-80s. He then resumed his academic career, receiving his PhD in Divinity from St. Michael’s College at the University of Toronto in 1999.

Passionate about travel, he and Jean visited most of the world’s countries at least once. Jean died in 2012.

Rick is survived by Angela Walker and Bene’t Steinberg, children of his first wife Margaret; and by Nick Steinberg and his step-son David Lloyd. He had eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
