CAMPBELL, William Joseph

CAMPBELL – PIGOTT William Joseph Campbell August 21, 1922 – December 8, 2017 Mother: Frances Loughlin (nee Pigott) of Hamilton ON. Survived by his wife Patricia (Port Alberni, BC); children Julie (Seattle WA.), William (Calgary AB), Robert (Switzerland), David (Campbellville ON); step-children Tracy (Port Dover, ON) and Douglas (Simcoe ON).

Bill enjoyed a life rich with boundless curiosity, adventure and joie de vivre. He served in the Canadian army as Lieutenant officer during WWII. Upon return, Bill apprenticed as a carpenter with Pigott Construction in Hamilton. Within a few years he launched his own construction company, W J Campbell Construction, building many housing subdivisions and light industrial projects throughout Southern Ontario, and later in Whitehorse Yukon and Vancouver Island. Always a creative soul, he designed and built extraordinary custom homes, furniture, and a never-ending line of beautiful wooden boats. A master craftsman and eminently capable, Bill’s favorite expression was “I can fix anything but a broken heart” . . . but in fact he was best at loving deeply, and fostering an aura of optimism, adventure, and good cheer among us all on his path through life. His constant smile is with us always.

Interment of ashes Saturday, April 20, 11:00 a.m. at The Catholic Cemeteries of the Diocese of Hamilton, 600 Spring Gardens Rd., Burlington ON.
