CARREIRO, David da Camara

CARREIRO, David da Camara Died peacefully on April 3, 2019, a day prior to his 94th birthday.

His devoted wife of 59 years, Judith Pereira (nee Jacome) and their beautiful daughters, Maria Philomena (Michael) Bradford, Margaret (David Smith), Georgina (Tom) Minnes, Grace Mary, and Celina (Fernando) Fresco as well as wonderful grandchildren Victoria (Jonathan), Matthew (Gabrielle), Monica and David are forever grateful to have had a loving marido, pai and vô. Finnigan and Kia will miss the treats their human vovô generously gave. He considered the Bojeski’s next door extended family and was glad to witness the families connect as ‘siblings’ into a third generation. David predeceases his sister Margarida and in-laws Irena Carreiro, Adriana Carreiro, Manuel Soares, Bianor Travassos and Fernando (Clara) Jacome. His siblings Manny (Alice), Eugenio (Irene), Padre Simas, José, Conceiçaõ (Joaõ) Pereira, Maria dos Anjos (Luis) Valerio, and Augusto welcome him in heaven along with their parents Eugenio and Maria d’Espirito Santo (nee Arruda) whom he admired and respected. He will also be missed by his many, many nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends.

As an immigrant from Saõ Miguel in 1956, his humble beginnings in Canada were on Tillsonburg farms then to various jobs in the Hamilton area before landing the job that would help with his growing family. In addition to working at Stelco Canadian Drawn Finishing Plant, he continued his carpentry skills renovating houses for his many friends/neighbours/colleagues. However, his masterpiece has always been his home. He was a man of great faith which was evident as a long time parishioner and choir member at The Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King, and recipient of the Diocesan Medal of Honour for his service to the Diocese.

Although he stayed at St. Joseph Villa in Dundas for a very short time, the family wishes to thank the staff of Trillium Lane for their kindness and impeccable care.

Resting at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton St. E., on Friday, April 5, from 2-4 and 5-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be offered at The Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Holy Souls Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, donation made to the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King Perpetual Care Fund, Tuberous Sclerosis Canada (tscanada.ca), or MS Society would be appreciated.
