CUMMINGS, David Bruce

CUMMINGS, David Bruce March 8, 1956 – March 7, 2019 Peacefully surrounded by his loving children, family and friends, on March 7, 2019, Cumbo gave his last “thumbs up”.

After a courageous five year battle against an unrelenting cancer, the angels saw that his body was tired and brought him to the party in heaven. He was greeted at the gates by his loving wife, Janice Cummings (Hayward), mother Ella, father Bill, brother Colin, father-in-law Bill (Hayward) and Bails the dog. Deeply loved and missed by his children, son Daniel and daughter Jamie. He was so proud of you both. Left behind to cherish his memory and share many Cumbo stories are many family and friends. Mother-in-law, Kaye Hayward, brother-in-law to Glenn and Patricia, Robert and Anne, Christine and Kevin and Sue and Ian. Cherished by nephews and nieces, Christopher, Toni, Shelby, Mitchell, Callum and Zander. Family gatherings will never be the same without your presence.

Dave grew up on the Hamilton mountain but moved to Calgary in his 20’s and met his love Janice. They moved back to Hamilton and raised their family in a home that was always welcoming to friends and family. Dave had a great volume of friends that loved and supported his journey throughout life. Being part of Dave’s life, we were able to laugh, sing and now cry. Many good times were had at Cumbo’s Place.

Dave loved his music and could sing the words to any song, loved fishing and going up north with ice fishing buddies. He shared his love for fishing with his nephews. Dave was a dedicated Chicago Blackhawks fan and was able to take his kids on a road trip to Chicago to see them play, a memory that will be cherished forever. He even gave back to his community as a Volunteer Driver for Meals on Wheels.

Thank you to the CICU Juravinski Hospital staff for giving David the care and comfort in his final days. Anyone who had the pleasure to meet our Cumbo would have a story to tell. A Celebration of Dave’s Life with family and friends will be held on March 23, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Royal Canadian Legion, 435 Limeridge Road East. Cumbo was here.

Keep on Rockin in the Free World.
