Darryl Lewis BOLD

Darryl Lewis BOLD

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Darryl Bold on February 1, 2021, at the age of 63. Born on July 29, 1957 in Toronto to Ernest and Geraldine Bold, he was the youngest of their two children. Darryl started his career at IBM at 18 years old and stayed with the company until his retirement 34 years later. Darryl married Jane Bold (née McClure) on May 5, 1984. Together, they were the proud, loving parents of two children, Gary and Angela.

Darryl’s love for family extended to his fur baby, Roxie, and his fur grandchildren, Naya, Simba and Riddle. His love shone through brilliantly in his countless kind acts of service. There was no task or job that Darryl wouldn’t volunteer for – he would do anything for his family or, frankly, for anyone. Never content to sit still, Darryl took on a series of post-retirement jobs. An avid golfer, he found enjoyment working at Markland Wood Golf Club, spending his days caring for the course. Darryl shared his passion for golf with his sister, Delaine. He visited her every other weekend throughout the summer, and golf was always on the agenda.

Darryl enjoyed vacationing in Florida with his family and an especially memorable trip to Hawaii with Jane. In recent years, Darryl and Delaine took a trip to play on golf courses throughout the southern United States. Whether he was away on vacation or closer to home, Darryl always loved to drive – preferably a five-speed standard, windows down, classic rock blaring on the stereo. Darryl will be lovingly remembered by his wife Jane, his daughter Angela and her partner Zach, his son Gary and his partner Laura, his sister Delaine, and his many friends from IBM, Markland Wood, and his local pool league.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Smith’s Funeral Home in Burlington. The funeral will be attended by immediate family only. A Celebration of Life will be held when larger gatherings can take place. If you wish to participate, please join the Tributes to Darryl Bold community group on Facebook for updates, and to share your favourite memories and photos of Darryl. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made in Darryl’s name to the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA (www.hbspca.com/donate/tribute-gift) would be warmly appreciated. www.smithsfh.com
