Douglas (Doug) A. Jones

Born in Toronto on December 8th, 1938 Doug passed away peacefully at Markham Stouffville Hospital on April 10, 2019 after a courageous 11 month battle with Glioblastoma. Beloved husband of Susan for 50 years. Loving Dad of Karen (Pete Hencher) and Laurie (Derek Parker). Cherished Grandad of Olivia, Kurt, Connor and Hayley. Survived by his sisters Marilyn (Margery Smith) and Janice (Morrow Stevenson), Sister and Brother in law Linda and Keith Worth, along with nieces and nephews. Doug will be lovingly remembered and missed by his family and friends forever. Doug felt blessed and grateful for the 60 years he worked in the Communications Industry making many friends along the way.

A Celebration of life will be held at the Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora, 905-727-5421 on Thursday April 18 from 2-5pm.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Sunnybrook Odette Cancer Program or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

Biography: Mr. Jones had an extensive and impressive career in the communications industry in Canada, the United States and Europe. His work spanned four decades including RF network development, sales, marketing, acquisitions, product development, and manufacturing. Mr. Jones worked at Motorola for thirty-three years in all aspects of the business and for five years was Vice President and Director of Canadian Land Mobile operations. Mr. Jones was President and Chief Executive Officer of Sinclair Technologies for ten years. Mr. Jones formed Douglas A. Jones Consulting Services in 2003 to provide consulting and advisory services to the communications industry. Mr. Jones was a director of Baylin Technologies from 2013 when the company commenced its listing on the Toronto Stock Exchange until his retirement in 2018. Mr. Jones was an important technical and business contributor to management, the Audit Committee and the Board of Directors while working with Baylin. Previously Mr. Jones was a director at Kaval Technologies, Sinclair Technologies. He was a member of the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials (U.S.A.), as a communications industry representative for 15 years between 1997 and 2012.
