EADY, Irene Annette

EADY, Irene AnnetteĀ Irene Annette Eady (Demko) of Niagara Falls, ON, residing in Moncton, NB, passed away peacefully Thursday morning at the Moncton City Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in 1938 to parents Anna (Hiba) and John Demko, with one sister, Alice (Krar), all of Miskolc, Hungary. Irene was proud of her Hungarian heritage. Irene was employed with the Bank of Commerce in Niagara Falls, and later transferred to Guelph, ON as an Accounting Officer. After marrying Keith, they moved to Montreal, QC and it remained their home for 30 years, until returning to Niagara Falls following retirement. She was a loving, energetic and devoted wife and mother, who gave generously of her time to family and friends. Volunteering with home and school reading programs, coaching Ringettes and Broomball and mentoring young people, all were a passion for her.

While living in Montreal, she was a part time manager at McDonald’s, where her youthful enthusiasm and humour made her a favourite amongst her co-workers. Known as “Mom”, she was sought out for guidance and advice, but most often she was treasured for her comforting hugs. Irene was a Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star in Montreal, and enjoyed time spent visiting children at the Shriner’s Hospital there. She also loved to golf, ski and was an avid knitter, sharing her creations with all.

Irene is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Keith Eady and her two children, Su-Ann Steeves (Doug) of Moncton, NB and Scott Eady (Linda) of Jasper, AB; her cherished grandchildren, Erin (Ryan), Trevor (Caro), Addison and Emerson; and great-grandchildren, Eloise and Violet; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the Physicians, Nursing and Support Staff of the Palliative Care Unit for the exceptional, compassionate care shown their mother during her six week stay. It will never be forgotten.

A Service to celebrate and honour Irene’s life will be held at People’s Park Tower Chapel, 960 St. George Blvd., Moncton, on Monday, April 1, 2019 at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. Steve Berube leading the service. Reception to follow at Rose Hall, Camden Court. Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton, NB (506-858-1995) in care of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital or Friends of The Moncton Hospital would be appreciated.
