Eugenio FORTINO

It is with deep sorrow and sadness that we announce the passing of beloved husband, father and cherished nonno, Eugenio Fortino at the age of 86, on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at Juravinski Hospital. Loving husband of Lidia (nee Filice) for over 58 years. Loving father to his children Ben Fortino and his wife Angela, Italo Fortino and his wife Debbie, Carlo Fortino and his wife Pamela and Louisa and her husband Mike Pupulin. Dearest and adored nonno to Matthew, Alexandra, Vanessa, Daniella, Simone, Michael and John Paul.

Loved son of the late Michele and Maria Fortino and son in-law of the late Santo and Assunta Filice. Dear brother and brother in law to: the late Marianna and the late Eugenio Filice, the late Angela and the late Stanislao Spina, the late Roberto Fortino and Marianna, the late Alfredo Fortino and Lina, Anna and the late Eugenio Fortino, Carmine and Liliana Fortino, the late Maria and the late Ernesto Giordano, the late Attilio and the late Nina Filice, Barbara and the late Stanislao Berlingieri, Palmo Filice, and Eugenio and the late Marisa Filice. Survived and sadly missed by many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends in both Canada and Italy. Eugenio was born on December 15, 1934 and emigrated to Canada in 1964. Eugenio led a typical immigrant life. He was a devoted family man and selfless provider. He was an employee of Stelco for over 30 years, but his real passion was the Italian National Soccer team, Ferrari F1 racing team, riding his bike, going on long walks or tending to his vast vegetable garden once retired.

He also loved and cherished the time spent caring for his grandkids. We will deeply miss his humor, smile and enthusiasm for life. Special thanks to our family physician, Dr. Dao. We are also very grateful for all the support from the nurses and staff at Juravinski Hospital in his final days. Our family would especially like to thank Dr. Karachi at the ICU who displayed a sense of warmth, care and attention to Eugenio that will never be forgotten. Also, a special thanks to Beth Treen and Lisa Morrison from the LHIN for his care and all the personal support workers who helped with Eugenio, Sara from Bayshore, Lee-Anne from VON and Rosa from Paramed who gave our father exceptional dedicated support for years. A special thank you goes out to all the Hamilton paramedics who serviced Eugenio for the last decade.

Due to current Covid restrictions visitation and funeral mass will be reserved for invited family. Arrangements entrusted to Bay Gardens Funeral Home. A Book of Condolences is available online at www.baygardens.ca. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Rest in peace, we love you and we will miss you
