George John APRILE

George John APRILE

APRILE, George John It was not the start to the New Year that his large extended family was hoping for. George Aprile died January 1, 2021 with his beloved and longtime partner Rosalind by his side at Scarborough General Hospital.

It was a blessing that the hospital allowed a loved one with him in this time of Covid. Like so many people during the pandemic, many family members couldn’t visit him for months during his illness with cancer.

George touched many lives during his well-lived life of 78 years especially his three grandchildren Andrew Matthew and Michael, stepson Dwayne and stepdaughter Deborah and her two children Matthew and Morgan. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, sisters and brothers. Bill (Betty) Frank (Heidi) Carole, Donna (Nik) Nina (David) Michael (Colleen) Joan, Tricia (John). It was a year ago that his older sister Gail passed away from cancer.

The disease also claimed his mother Pauline, father Michael and sister Barbara. George was a master electrician who also mastered any job he put his hands on. And he passed on his skills to those willing to listen learn and work hard. He was a born raconteur who loved to spin tales of travel and family misadventures with great hilarity. He held court every Wednesday at his home office with his work crew buddies.

George was a very popular guy with a big heart who was always the first to extend a helping hand to his neighbours, friends and family. Like George Bailey in It’s A Wonderful Life, a man who has friends is a rich man indeed. That was Our George.
