TUMANGDAY, GIL It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Gil Garcia Tumangday on September 25, 2018 in Ajax, Ontario. Gil was born in the Philippines to Ciriaco and Magdalena Tumangday on December 27, 1925. He graduated from Far Eastern University, Institute of Law, Manila, Philippines.
He began his career in Public Service and Investigation with the National Bureau of Investigations (NBI) and International Customs and Trade for Philippine Standard Corporation. After moving to Canada Gil worked as a Tax, Customs and Trade Specialist with Irwin Toys eventually retiring from Xerox, Canada. He married Gloria Bajalan on July 15, 1965 in the Philippines and lived and loved her for over 53 years. His devoted spouse Gloria and loving children, Edna (Raoul), Allan, Erwin (Leslie), Gizelle. Grandchildren Eric (Dylan), Abby, Gilberto, Isabel and Dante. He is survived by his siblings Maria (Acay), Zoe, Esther and Fidel. He was predeceased by siblings Nick and Alfredo.
Visitation will take place at Highland Funeral Home – Scarborough Chapel, 3280 Sheppard Ave. East, Toronto, Friday, September 28, 2018 3-5 and 6-9 p.m. Funeral Mass on Saturday, September 29th at Precious Blood Catholic Church, 1737 Lawrence Ave., at 10:30 a.m. followed by a private family burial at Christ The King Cemetery.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sunnybrook Cancer Research or the Canadian Cancer Society.
