GIUSEPPINA CAPONE

GIUSEPPINA CAPONE

CAPONE, GIUSEPPINA It is with heavy hearts that her family announces the passing of Giuseppina just short of her 94th year at Etobicoke General Hospital. Predeceased by her husband Carmine, loving mother of Pellegrino, Angelo, Joseph and Claudio, her grandchildren Lesia, Carmine, Andrew, Alyssa, Sabrina, Lorraine, Holly and Emily, her dearest great-grandchildren, Clara and Julia. Her family’s spouses, Sonia, Jeanne, Cheryl, Blair and Mark and her sole surviving sister Sabatina. Her love of family and strength will be missed.

She arrived at Pier 21 in Halifax in May of 1954 with her son Pellegrino with nothing but a strong will to work and make a new life for herself and her darling husband in a strange and cold land, far from the sunny fields of her birth in the foothills of Avellino. Together they raised a family and made a wonderful life in Canada, never once regretting the life she left behind. A true Leafs fan, she died during the season opening game between the Leafs and the hated Canadiens. The Leafs won. She died a winner. We will miss her love and remember her lessons.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the Etobicoke General Hospital at http://www.oslerfoundation.org/Ways-to-Give/TributePrograms.aspx. A special mention must be made of the staff and nurses at 7 West who took care of our mother, their Nonna, during her stay at EGH. Visitation is Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Monday 2-4 p.m. at Jerrett Funeral Home, 1141 St. Clair Ave., with funeral services at 12 noon Tuesday, October 9th at St. Clare Catholic Church.
