GOODBRAND, Doris Marguerite formerly Barber nee Willits Passed away peacefully at Joseph Brant Hospital on Friday, March 1, 2019 in her 101st year.

Predeceased by her beloved husband of 17 years, John Goodbrand (2017). Predeceased by her loved first husband Reverend Albert Barber (1995) and her son Stephen (1976). Much loved mother of Susan Welsh, Lynn McKerracher (Richard), the late Stephen Barber, Jonathan Barber (Dawn), Mark Barber and Paul Barber (Amy). Loving stepmother to Karen Tigchelaar (Ed), John Goodbrand, David Goodbrand (Cathy), Janet MacDonald (Bruce). Cherished grandmother of 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Loving daughter of the late Alvin and Alice Willits. Sister to the late Cliff Willits (Ruth) and loved aunt of Marjorie Dunaway (Dan).

Doris was a missionary in Central America and a pastor’s wife alongside her first husband for many years. Long time member of Compass Point Bible Church, where she served faithfully into her 80’s. Doris was a bright presence in the lives of everyone who knew her. She was kind, encouraging, cared deeply for others and was genuinely interested in their lives. She loved sunshine, music, jewellery, shoes, poetry, the cottage on Wolf River, her large family and especially her Lord and Saviour Jesus. She embraced every day with joy and gratitude.

Special thank you to Dr. A. Nayar, the nurses on 6S at Joseph Brant Hospital and the wonderful staff at Heritage Place Retirement Home who cared for her so well and where she spent several happy years.

Private family Interment at Burlington Memorial Gardens. Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Tuesday, March 5 from 12 noon until the time of a Celebration of Doris’ Life in the funeral home chapel at 1 p.m. Reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Compass Point Bible Church or Mission Services of Hamilton would be greatly appreciated.
