GRAVIS, Donna Irene (Nee Devine) Peacefully at Carpenter Hospice on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the age of 94.
Beloved wife of the late Frank Gravis for 62 years (2010). Loving mother of Gail Crowell and Husband Gary, and Ron and his wife Lorraine. Cherished grandmother of Jeff (Julianna), Mark (Leah), John (Natalie), Michael (Shana) and Ryan (Sarah), and great grandmother to Jackson, Hailey, Ian, Adam, Noah and Tyler. Dear Sister of Helen Riehl and Lenora Chu, and sister-in-law of Thelma Gravis, Helen Bovic, and brother-in-law Sherwin Chu. Donna was one of 13 children and was predeceased by four sisters and six brothers.
She was a graduate of St. Joseph’s School of Nursing and was head nurse on Six Surgical at St. Joseph’s Hospital for over 25 years. The family would like to thank Dr. Adam Grzeslo for his attentiveness, care and compassion.
We would also like to thank our many friends for their countless acts of kindness and generosity to Mom over the years. Donna spent the last 10 years, very happily at Heritage Place in Burlington, where she met so many wonderful, warm and friendly people, both residents and staff. Special thanks to the Carpenter hospice for the care, warmth and comfort they provided to Mom.
Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Monday, March 11, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, (2265 Headon Rd, Burlington) on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. A Reception at the Parish Hall will take place following the Funeral Mass. A private family entombment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Carpenter Hospice would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
Donna was a kind and gracious lady who was loved by and will be missed by many.
