JEAN HYND

JEAN HYND

HYND, JEAN (nee HAMILTON) Passed away peacefully on October 17, 2018, surrounded by loved ones and holding her daughter’s hand at the Meaford Long Term Care Home at the age of 84.

Beloved wife of William (Billy) Hynd for 52 years (deceased). Loving mother of Lynn and her husband Paul Pinchbeck and Jim and his wife Angela. Devoted and joyful in the love of her grandchildren, Brodie, Megan, Austin and Hayley. Daughter to the late Alexander Hamilton and Mary (Crichton). Sister to the late Agnes (Carruthers), Joan (Waugh) and Alex Hamilton. Beloved Auntie Jean to many nieces and nephews back in Scotland. Best friend of Mary McGill.

A machine operator – seamstress in Glasgow, Scotland prior to immigrating to Canada in 1967 where she worked at Honeywell in Scarborough for more than 25 years before retiring. Jean moved to Collingwood with the love of her life Billy in 2002 to be closer to her family. “Jeannie” loved to sing and dance and uplifted many spirits with her songs. Her contagious laugh always made people smile around her. Always thankful to those that helped her; she always took the time to recognize kindness in others. Jean made a great curried chicken and steak and kidney pie and the best Scottish shortbread cookies. Her own homemade “puncha cream” was the toast of the holiday season. Jean and the “love of her life” Billy enjoyed retirement by travelling with friends and visiting her son Jim’s family.

Jean loved to spend time with her grandchildren and play games with them as they grew up. She was very proud to tell the tales of her son and daughter and grandchildren to all that would listen. Jean believed in living life to the fullest and creating memories. The sound of her voice singing in the hallways while wearing her iPod playing her favourite Vera Lynn and Frank Sinatra songs will be missed by family and friends and staff at the home. We love you 2 shillings!

A Celebration of Jean’s Life including a cocktail reception will be held on Sunday, November 11th from 1-4 p.m. at the Toronto Ski Club, 796456 Grey County Road 19, Blue Mountains, Ontario L9Y 3Z2 (705-445-1890).

If desired, memorial donations in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada. Friends may visit Jean’s online Book of Memories at fawcettfuneralhomes.com
