John Vincent WURSTER

WURSTER, John Vincent John passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 5th, surrounded by the love of his family in his 88th year.

He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 63 years Barbara (Black) and his children Doug (Barb), Dianne Stoneman (John), Deborah Wright (Steve) and Donna Ribeiro. Cherished grandfather (Papa) to Meagan, Leigh, Nicole, Taylor, Cameron, Carly and Brianna. Survived by his sister Angela Murphy (Paul) and brothers in-law Barry Black (Marlies) and Bruce Black (Edie, deceased). Predeceased by his sister Nanette Hamilton Higgins (Stafford, deceased), his brother Harold Wurster (Pat, deceased), his brother-in-laws Bill Black (Frances, deceased) and Bob Black (Lois, deceased). John was blessed to spend 63 years of marriage with his wife Barbara. It was a true love affair. Together they shared a wonderful life full of love, adventure and fun starting with their home in Kitchener, then Willowdale and finally Thornhill where they spent 25 years raising their family.

They also spent many special years enjoying cottage life in Muskoka with their family. John loved nothing better than sitting on the deck looking out over the water, watching the sun set. They also enjoyed their time in Long Boat Key, Florida. And through it all there were so many good friends along the way to enjoy life with and these friendships meant the world to him. Music was ever present in John’s life. A lover of jazz and the great singers Tony, Frank and Barbra. John was also a passionate sports fan. He loved his Jays, the Leafs, Raptors, tennis and golf. John had a wonderful career at Roy Foss Motors where he enjoyed another passion of his, cars. And if a car had whitewall tires, well that made him smile. John had a quick wit and a charm about him that stood out. It’s no wonder that he made connections with people that were special and lasting. He loved making people laugh and had great comedic timing. He always took the time to say something nice to whomever he met that day – a little compliment that would put a smile on their face and brightened their day. He was a man of deep faith, a devoted Catholic. John was an elegant man, always dressed impeccably and had a great flair for fashion that he got from his dear father. He was a gentleman in the purest sense of the word. He will be greatly missed and we will never forget just how special he was to his family and many friends.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the entire staff at Amica Bayview Gardens for the wonderful care John received. Please join John’s family for a celebration of his life on Sunday, September 16th, 2 to 5 p.m. at Thornhill Golf Club, 7994 Yonge Street, Thornhill.
