Linda SOTNIK

SOTNIK, Linda (nee KOOK) Born at Saburi, Alatskivi, Tartumaa, Estonia, on June 13, 1919, daughter of Minna and Kaarel Kook, died peacefully on March 23, 2018. Beloved wife of Jaan (predeceased); predeceased by brothers August and Rudolph and sister Helmi.

She had been in failing health for some time, after a life filled with more “interesting” and even dangerous events than most people can imagine, including being forced to leave Estonia, under the threat of the devastating Communist occupation of their homeland, when the family sailed across the Baltic to Sweden, for three days and nights on a sailboat, with her husband at the helm and with her two young daughters.

Loving mother of Maia, Tiina (Murray) and Jaan (Melanie). Loving grandmother of Jennifer (Chris), Jonathan (Anna), Brett (Sarah), Matthew and Stefanie; loving great-grandmother of Spencer, Willow and Meadow, Catherine and Evelyn.

Funeral Service at St. Peter’s Erindale Anglican Church, 3041 Mississauga Rd., Mississauga, on Wednesday March 28, 2018 at 12 noon.

Viewing at the church prior to the service, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Interment to follow at York Cemetery. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Turner & Porter ‘Neweduk Erin-Mills’ Chapel, Mississauga.
