LOOPSTRA, Wilhelmina ‘Willy’ (née Van Alten)Surrounded by her family, Willy passed away peacefully on Monday evening, January 14, 2019.
She will be missed terribly by her husband of 44 years, Bert Loopstra; her children Jennifer (Yemi), David (Jennifer), Laura (Ryan), Rachel (Tim), and Carelynn; and her precious grand- children Savannah, Brooklyn, Paisley, Maverick, Sadie, Wesley and Mina. She will always be lovingly remembered by her extended family – siblings Jake (late Marg), Atty (Ed), Henk, Adrianna (John), Nellie and John (Allison); her in-laws, late Larry (Pam), Chuck (Claudia), and Allard (Margie); and her many nieces and nephews.
Willy loved life and was such a gentle spirit. She was a devoted mother to her children. She loved her students. She was artistic and creative and always whistled in her garden. The last five years were difficult but she bore the burden with incredible grace. Her faith sustained her.
She thanks her wonderful caregivers at the Meaford Long Term Care Centre over the past 2 years and her friends who visited her regularly.
A celebration of Willy’s life will be held at the First Baptist Church, 35 Trowbridge St., Meaford, ON N4L 1V4, on Saturday, January 19, 2019. Prior to the celebration commencing at 1:30 p.m., refreshments will be available from noon as well as an opportunity to meet with the family.
