Luciano PUPOLIN

PUPOLIN, Luciano June 9, 1941 – June 22, 2018 “I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have.

” It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Luciano (Lou) Pupolin. Lou died at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, surrounded by loving family members after a heroic fight with illness. There are no words to express how greatly he will be missed. Lou was born in the small city of Latisana in Northern Italy to parents Maria and Domenico Pupolin.

He excelled in school and began a lifelong passion for reading, desiring and knowing that he could create an exciting and prosperous life for himself and others. It was such that at the youthful age of fourteen, he immigrated to Canada with nothing, carrying only the legacy of his grandfather, Santin, who wished him well with all his heart: “I cannot give you anything except a good name.” Lou proudly took on that name and the responsibility to uphold his family’s values throughout his whole life. Lou never backed away from a challenge and it became clear to all whose lives he touched that he was not afraid of hard work, loyalty and dedication. With heaps of fiery, passionate spirit and an uncanny ability to see the humour in life thrown into the mix, Lou’s life in Canada reached extraordinary heights. Founding his own mechanical company from the ground up, he was able to leave a giant’s footprint upon the construction industry.

Lou’s work, creations and influence can be found in countless projects across all of Toronto, Ontario, the country and beyond. Lou has left a firm imprint upon the hearts not just of his family and friends, but of anyone who worked alongside him and knew him. As an outstanding contributor to society, he conducted much of his business on the good faith of a handshake, with a strong business sense and an ability to inspire others to hold to the highest standards and succeed. As a role model and a mentor with a unique perspective and zest for life, people who entered his circle would find themselves voluntarily venturing to the office on Saturday mornings, just to hear his stories. Yet, over and above being a businessman, Lou was first and foremost a family man and a beautiful human being, offering feisty, boisterous and vibrant life teachings and constant celebration to those he loved. Lou’s energy was the type that changes the world – and change the world he did.

Lou’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks to all at St. Michael’s Hospital who fought their hardest for the lively spirit that was in their care.

For all who wish to pay their respects to Lou, a visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 26th from 5:00-9:00 p.m. at the DeMarco Funeral Home (8003 Weston Road, Woodbridge, ON L4L 1A6).

Visitation will continue on Wednesday, June 27th at 10:00 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m., both also at the DeMarco Funeral Home. Interment will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27th at the Beechwood Cemetery (7241 Jane Street, Concord, ON L4K 1A7).

Lou’s fire will always burn bright in our hearts and minds. May he forever rest in peace.
