LYNNE BURKE

BURKE, LYNNE Passed away peacefully at Sunnybrook Hospital October 13, 2018, at the age of 81. Her loving son Anthony was by her side.

Lynne was born in St. John’s Newfoundland in 1937, daughter of Madge Mckinlay Burke and Henry Albert Burke (both deceased). She was predeceased by her caring brother Barry and is survived by her son Anthony and her loving brother Wayne. As a youngster, Lynne won awards for playing piano, sang on the radio and worked as a stewardess in her 20’s. Later, she moved to Montreal and began her lifelong career as a legal secretary. Lynne was highly regarded for her strong work ethic, grace and humor. As a result, she was invited to work in Toronto at the age of 44.

Lynne hosted many elegant dinner parties, cooked many gourmet meals and played the piano at Christmas time for friends. She moved to a smaller apartment at the age of 74 and remained a strong and independent woman all the days of her life.

Lynne had a tender heart and touched many lives with her unique and genuine personality. Her strong spirit, her caring heart, her loyalty and decency will long be remembered by those who loved her.

Memorial Service at Morley Bedford Funeral Home, 159 Eglinton Avenue West, Toronto (2 stoplights west of Yonge Street) on Sunday, January 20th, at 2 p.m.
