MARTIN ERIC (MARTY) EXON

MARTIN ERIC (MARTY) EXON

EXON, MARTIN (MARTY) ERIC June 16, 1960 – December 24, 2018 It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Marty Exon. He passed away at his home in North Carolina with his family by his side.

He leaves behind to mourn his passing his wife Megan and his three sons Scott, Paul and Christopher, all of North Carolina, his parents Keith and Marilyn Exon and brother David of Toronto and his sister Tamara (Rob) Dean, niece Caitlin and nephews Kyle and Ayden Dean of Vancouver, BC. He will be fondly remembered by aunts, uncles, cousins and his many friends.

Marty was born in North Vancouver, BC, but his family moved to Toronto when he was young. He was a graduate of Stephen Leacock Collegiate, Scarborough and the University of Waterloo.

His sister’s tribute follows: “I have known the pain of grief before, having lost grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, friends and in-laws. But this time is different. This time I am experiencing the heartbreaking devastation of losing my dear, wonderful, loving brother, Marty Exon. He found freedom from his battle with Parkinson’s disease Christmas Eve, surrounded by his wife and sons. I cannot express how hard it is to be so far away at this difficult time, but I am comforted by the love that encompassed him as he passed. To my wonderful nephews, Scott, Paul and Chris Exon I send much love at the loss of your beloved father. To my incredible sister-in-law, Megan Exon, I also send love, but also my gratitude for the devotion you gave throughout his rollercoaster journey. I am so glad he knew your love right through to the end. So, this Christmas, as hard as it is to be merry, I am filled with thankfulness and pride for having Marty as my brother and celebrate the time we had together. As strange as it may seem, I would like to quote Dr. Seuss: “Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.” I still might cry, though.”
