McCORMICK, Carolyn Elizabeth (nee Cossar)

McCORMICK, Carolyn Elizabeth (nee Cossar) A kindergarten teacher for 35 years with the Hamilton Board of Education, and church organist and choir director in Haldimand County area for many years, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 8, 2019 at the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice in Hamilton.

She was born in 1942 in Hamilton to the late Samuel and Elsie Cossar. She was a long-time resident of Caledonia. Carolyn was the beloved wife and best friend for 40 years of Robert John McCormick (deceased 2015). She was also predeceased by her older brother Donald (deceased 2012) and his wife Lillian (1997). She is survived by her brother Doug (Olive) of Vancouver Island. Carolyn is also survived by her nieces: Kim Hussey (Roger and their son Grant) of Hamilton, Dawn Cossar (Allan Gallant), of Hamilton, Dr. Roisin Cossar (Dr. Len Kuffert) and their children Eamon and Anna Kuffert of Winnipeg, and nephew Simon Cossar of Nanaimo B.C. As well, she is survived by her cousin and loyal friend Jeanette Tootell of Hamilton, and numerous relatives throughout southern and central Ontario. Carolyn was also the beloved step-grandma to Bob’s grandchildren: Natalie Lela (John) and Jennifer Murphy (Sean). She was also step-great-grandmother to Evan and Eric Lela and Kyle Murphy. She will be greatly missed by her sister-in-law Joan McCormick, Joan’s children: Nancy Dingman (Barry) and Sandra McCormick, children: Aston and Bailey, daughter-in-law Theresa McCormick as well as many friends in the Caledonia area.

Carolyn’s ashes will be laid to rest beside those of her husband Bob in the Caledonia cemetery. A private celebration of life will take place at a later date.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff at the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice for the comfort and care they provided to Carolyn in her final days. They would also like to thank the staff at Juravinski Hospital (ward 3c) and West Haldimand Hospital, Hagersville for their support.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice, 277 Stone Church Rd. E., Hamilton would be greatly appreciated by the family.
