MONAGHAN, Ruth Charlotte (McCallum)

MONAGHAN, Ruth Charlotte (McCallum) May 15, 1934 – February 27, 2019 Ruth passed away peacefully in her 85th year, with her friend Keith Roszell at her side.

She will be forever missed by her eight children Kathy, Ruth Ann, Dan (Bonnie), Dennis, Mike (Lisa), Rick (Connie), Bonnie, and Krista (Graeme). She will also be missed by all in-laws and outlaws, twenty-one grandchildren, and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband Dick Monaghan (2002). She is survived by her sister JoAnn Nelles (Craig), brother Mike McCallum (Meegan), sister-in-law Mary Cleveland (Glenn), brother-in-law Dave Brubaker, and many nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her best friend Audrey Webb, and adopted sons Oopie Lee and Dave.

Ruth was born in Palmerston. She loved to dance, and sang along with the Frankie Banks Orchestra in Hanover. She also enjoyed many years working as a bell operator on the switchboard. Ruth was a fierce card player and enjoyed playing bingo. She was a Master Bowler and dedicated many years to coaching kids in Dundas at University Lanes. Ruth raised her family in Dundas for 45 years. She lived the last 15 years in Fergus and made many friendships along the way. She made Fergus and all that came with it her home. She enjoyed her morning coffee group at JJ’s and her weekly Legion visits.

Celebration of life will be held at the Dundas Legion on Sunday, March 17th from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Please come in your St. Patrick’s day best, the way Ruth would want it.
