COLLIS, NATHAN On Saturday, August 11, 2018, Nathan Collis, 93. Nat was blessed with many immediate family members: husband of the late Lillyan Collis; brother of the late Lou and Jannette Collis and Joe and Ida Collis; father of Lorne and his wife Rhonda and father of Robb and his partner Rick Martin; grandfather of Adam and Lisa Collis; and privileged to be great-grandfather of Lillian Collis.
For over 80 years Nat was a “jock”. As a teen he ran, played basketball (his passion), handball and bowling and in his early adult years he kept Vic Tanny’s in business. Well into his 80’s he was lifting weights and swimming. Nat loved golf, even on TV! Nat and Lillyan travelled every chance they got. They spent much time in Palm Springs with their extended family. But going to restaurants was what really motivated him: his beloved coffee, a glass of wine or beer at dinner and most food (Jewish and Chinese food the only ethnic foods allowed).
At Benjamin’s Park Memorial Chapel, 2401 Steeles Ave. West (3 lights west of Dufferin) for service on Friday, August 17th at 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow in the Pride of Israel Section of Mount Sinai Memorial Park. Shiva will be held immediately after interment in the Mount Sinai Reception Hall. Thereafter, Shiva will be private. Donations in Nathan’s honour can be made to the David Suzuki Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
