Nicolas KALYVITIS

KALYVITIS, Nicolas August 25, 1933 – September 9, 2018 Nick was born in the Laconia region of Greece in the town of Finiki in 1933 to Alexandros and Fotini Kalyvitis.

He was the eldest of 4 children and emigrated to Montreal in 1960 in search of a better life. Being an avid learner and reader, Nick taught himself the printing trade where he eventually owned and ran a printing company. However, family was too important to Nick and he left Montreal to move to Toronto to be with his younger brother Peter and his family. Nick and Peter went onto open the popular Kally’s Restaurants in Scarborough in 1976 where Nick was loved by customers and family alike. He was a kind and generous man. Nick was the patriarch of the Kalyvitis family and a rock to his family in Greece and in Canada. While Nick never had children of his own, he was a beloved uncle to his nieces Tini and Alexandra. He taught them the importance of family and philanthropy. Nick was predeceased by his parents and his brother Peter and his memory will be carried on by his brother George and sister Anna and sister-in-law Electra. Nick will be most remembered as “Uncle Nick” and dearly missed for his sense of humour and strength.

He will be missed by his grandnephews and niece: Dimitri, Peter Nicolas Christakis, Mathew and Eden Ferraro.
