PATRICK JOSEPH MONAGHAN

PATRICK JOSEPH MONAGHAN

MONAGHAN, PATRICK JOSEPH Pat (Paddy) was born in Belmullet, County Mayo, Ireland on the 13th of May 1945 and died on the 12th of October 2018 in Toronto at Trilogy Long Term Care Residence.

He was predeceased by his parents, Martin and Christine (nee Duffy), sisters, Ann (William), Noreen (Mick) and Mary (Roger). He is survived by son Ryan, loving spouse Bette, step-children, Katherine and David, brothers Fr. John Joe and Matthew and sister, Sarah. He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews and brothers-in-law and lifelong friends in England and Ireland. Barney and Ajeet (Benny) were true friends to the end.

Paddy immigrated to Canada at age 22. He worked as a master electrician and “go to guy” in the dairy industry for over 40 years. He was known for being loyal and caring, possessing a droll sense of humour and ever a sports enthusiast, especially Irish football at which he excelled in his youth. He remained Irish to the core.

Our family is grateful for the support and compassion shown to Paddy by the 7th floor nursing staff at Trilogy during his long struggle with ill health.

A celebration of life will be held in Ireland and, according to his wishes, Paddy will be interred in the family plot in County Mayo.

A gift in his memory to the Alzheimer Society of Toronto would be greatly appreciated.
