Jim had a long and rewarding career in law enforcement and security services as a member of the Town of Burlington Police Department in the 1960’s, as President of Cardinal Investigations in the 1970’s and 80’s, and later as a Security Officer for Biway, Wackenhut and the Commissionaires. Jim was a proud Hamiltonian, an avid student of local history, a passionate reader of Canadian military history and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 36, in Dundas. He was a dedicated and helpful friend to many and a tireless advocate for fairness and justice issues on behalf of his community, neighbours and family.

Jim will be remembered by his great friends, Rob and Sandy Kay of Dundas, Pat Monklebaan and his many friends and neighbours of Amberly Boulevard in Ancaster. He and Ede had recently returned to their beloved West End neighbourhood, near Ewen Road, where they built their early family life and became life-long friends with the Foords (Dot), the Bennetts and the Beatties.

Jim enjoyed researching and collecting carnival glass, police memorabilia, antiques and anything his Grandchildren became interested in. He had a great passion for gardening and working outdoors and he took pride in displaying his many Trillium awards. Jim loved all of the dogs who touched his life and closely followed many canine rescue projects. He will be greatly missed by his best friend Riggles.

Jim will be forever missed as a man of outstanding integrity who dedicated his life to his family and his work.

Cremation has taken place.

In lieu of flowers and in recognition of his devotion to animals, a donation to the Hamilton/ Burlington S.P.C.A. is appreciated by his family.
