Peter Denis Stille

Peter Denis Stille, 76, of Toronto, Ontario, passed away on October 14 2018, surrounded by his family and friends. Born in Toronto, Ontario to Helen and Frederick Stille, Peter was a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend.

He spent all of his life in Toronto and had a huge impact on the City he loved and the people that lived there. He grew up in the St. Clair/Caledonia area near Earlscourt Park playing with his brother Fred and his friends. Peter leaves behind a family that appreciates his love. Dedicated to his wife of 51 years (Margaret), always making sure she was taken care of over everything else. He was deeply proud of his sons (Anthony and John), daughter in-law (Gina), and grandchildren (Abbey, Sam, Marin, and Sadie). His four grandchildren loved their Grandpa very much and it is easy to see his loving peaceful character reflected in their eyes.

Peter, was a lover of humanity which was critical to how he interacted with people. He valued his friendships intensely and maintained long lasting connections with those he loved. His love and respect for people was paramount to how he operated his daily life and this is clearly demonstrated by the high esteem he was held in by the people he encountered and the people that knew him well. In his younger days, Peter was a sports hero and his love and passion for football, rugger, baseball, hockey, windsurfing, golf, squash and curling (to name just a few) continued throughout his life. He also loved to help organize events, including a long standing dedication to the annual Lions-CNE Peewee Baseball Tournament (now in its 62nd year). Peter spent his entire career with the Toronto District School Board as a history teacher, guidance counsellor, vice principal, acting principal, supervisor of the Toronto Urban Studies Centre and Boyne River Natural Science School. He successfully built a strong family-like connection of educators and influenced many lives.
