Richard Gary Davidson

Richard Gary Davidson

It is with great sadness and much love that we say goodbye to this beloved husband, father, granddad and brother. Richard will be forever loved and remembered by his wife of 40 years, Deborah. His spirit and loving nature will live on through his children Scott (Christine), daughter Stacie and grandchildren Emma and Luke. He will always have a place in the heart of his siblings Dave (Judy), Rob (Connie), Brian (Sharon) and Sandy (Ivan).

Rick was born in Toronto and spent his early years on Rhodes Avenue in the east end of the city. Later on, his family moved onto Clendenan Avenue in the west part of the city where he attended Central Technical School.

After high school, he worked for Border Brokers, where a friend introduced him to Deb. He asked her out to see the movie, “A Star is Born” in February of 77 and they were engaged by August. They married on October 7th, 1978. After several moves and the births of both Scott and Stacie, they settled into their home in Scarborough where they have lived since 1985.

Rick shifted careers and entered the Automotive Industry. He worked for Suzuki Canada for 23 years before transitioning to Kia Canada to oversee their Canadian debut. He returned to Suzuki to conclude his career and retired in 2014 as the National Logistics Manager for Canada.

He spent his last few years enjoying what he loved and trying new things. He was naturally drawn to the water and could frequently be seen walking along Ash Bridges Bay keeping his fitness up while admiring the sailboats floating by. He was keen to learn new skills and had signed up for classes about pole walking and real estate.

His main focus remained on his family. He reveled in the idea of being a grandfather and loved spending time and playing with his grandkids. He continued to be a dedicated father and still made time to go on weekly movie dates with Deb. He was a truly kind soul.

A funeral service will be held at St. Luke’s Church in East York on Monday, July 30that 2pm. There will be a reception in the basement of the church with light snacks offered.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Luke’s Church and/or Michael Garron Hospital in Richard’s name.
