Robert Lane Monroe (Bob) FREE

FREE, Robert (Bob) Lane Monroe August 11, 1936 – August 7, 2018 Bob died suddenly on August 7, 2018 at the age of 81 in Springfield, Oregon.

He is survived by his life partner Norma Adams, loving daughters Victoria Free and Gabrielle Free, both of Toronto, Ontario and beloved sister Sharon Langley of Edmonton, Alberta. Bob is predeceased by his parents Robert Free and Martha Garrett and his brothers Mark and Earl (Jack) Garrett. He grew up in Calgary, Alberta and graduated from Oregon State University. He married Sharon Pryce and for more than three decades, lived in Toronto where he worked at Massey-Ferguson and then TVOntario (TVO) for the bulk of his career. Bob spent as much time as possible at the cottages he built on Moose Lake in Haliburton, Ontario with family and many close friends.

In the early 2000s, he reconnected with the love of his life from Oregon State, Norma (Templeton) Adams. After several years of traveling between Haliburton and Eugene, Oregon, Bob and Norma built a home and settled in Springfield, Oregon. Bob was a voracious reader of history and a self-taught woodworker. He created numerous beautiful furnishings for family and friends that will be forever treasured. Bob will be remembered for his intelligence, sense of humour and love of debate. Arrangements are entrusted to Musgrove Family Mortuary (musgroves.com).

Funeral service to be held on August 18th at 11 a.m. at Springfield Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home, 7305 Main St., Springfield, Oregon. For those who wish, a donation can be made to the charity of your choice. A Celebration of Life will be held in Toronto at a later date.
