SHORT, Hugh Alexander

SHORT, Hugh Alexander Dr. Hugh Short passed away peacefully on March 2, 2019, receiving excellent and compassionate care at the Hamilton General Hospital and Juravinski Hospital.

Hugh was born in Sarnia on February 1, 1933, recently celebrating his 86th birthday at his home in Ancaster. He graduated from the University of Western Ontario in Medicine in 1959 and completed his specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1964, establishing his practice in Hamilton delivering thousands of babies over his illustrious career as practitioner and teacher.

Hugh is predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years Mona (nee Barrington), sister Helen, and daughter-in-law Denise. He will be deeply missed by his children Tom (Gwen), Katharine (Kevin), John (Nicole), and Hugh Pat (Ralamy). Hugh will be fondly remembered and incredibly missed by his eight grandchildren Alex, Connor, Keeley, Kate, John, Margaret, Avalon and Aidan, and his two step-grandchildren Avery and Morgan. He will also be missed by his brother-in-law John Barrington (Joy Miko), nephew Matthew (Kim), and nieces Kathleen (Josh) and Stephanie (George).

Hugh enjoyed his greatest pleasures on Four Mile Lake and in Anguilla surrounded by family and nature. He always had an opinion and has greatly influenced and shaped us all. We will miss him immensely.

In keeping with Hugh’s wishes, a private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
