SIR MURRAY McCANCE

McCANCE, SIR MURRAY Sir Murray McCance passed away on May 9, 2018 at the North Park Nursing Home. Murray is fondly remembered and dearly missed by his many friends for his warmth, wit, wisdom and compassion.

Murray was born in St. Thomas, Ontario in 1929. Murray was an ordained Deacon in the Catholic Church and served as Associate Chaplain of Corrections at the Don Jail in Toronto for 15 years. Murray combined his love of the church with architectural design, contributing to ten cathedral and forty-seven parish church restorations. In recognition of his ecclesiastical architecture, Murray was awarded “Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice” by Pope John Paul II and named Knight of the Holy Sepulchre. A special thanks is owed to the Tmej family for their kind support in Murray’s later years.

A Mass will be offered for the repose of the soul of Murray at St Francis of Assisi Parish, 72 Mansfield Ave., Toronto on Sunday, October 14th at 11:30 a.m.
