Sister Bernadette (formerly Anthony Marie) DALTON

DALTON (formerly Sister Anthony Marie), Bernadette Sister Bernadette Dalton (formerly Sister Anthony Marie) died peacefully at Sisters of St. Joseph Residence, 2 O’Connor Drive, Toronto, Ontario on October 25, 2018 in the 71st year of her religious life.

She was predeceased by her parents, James Dalton and Mary (Kinsella) Dalton and her sisters Eileen Agnes Dalton and Kathleen Antoinette Dalton. She will be sadly missed by her friends and Sisters in Community.

Sister Bernadette grew up in Toronto and entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto in September, 1947. Following her Novitiate, Sister Bernadette pursued the teaching profession and taught in various elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Toronto and the Diocese of St. Catharines. She was principal at St. Peter’s School in Toronto. Her artistic talents were well-used in the classroom. Sister Bernadette also taught at St. Joseph’s Intermediate Commercial School. Her secretarial skills were very much appreciated in the library at St. Joseph’s College School and in the Congregational Archives.

Recently Sister Bernadette resided at St. Joseph’s Care Centre. As her health declined she prayed for the needs of the poor and the homeless in our city.

Visitation will take place at the Sisters of St. Joseph Residence, 2 O’Connor Drive, Toronto, ON on Sunday, October 28, 2018, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. with a Prayer Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 29, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel at 2 O’Connor Drive, Toronto, Ontario. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
