STANLEY RACZKA

RACZKA, STANLEY We are saddened to announce the passing of Stanley Raczka on Monday, June 18, 2018 at the age of 95.

Predeceased by his wife Florence, he will be dearly missed by his son Joseph (Barbara) and his daughters Susan (Ed) and Monica (Bob) and grandchildren Blair, Andrew, Alexander and Caitlin. He will also be dearly missed by his sisters, nieces and nephews in Poland. Born in Rogoznica, Poland, Stanley overcame difficult childhood years after his family was forcibly taken to Russia (now Kazakhstan) and held in an internment camp. As a young teen he joined the Polish Army and fought for the Allied Forces in World War II which included the pivotal battle of Monte Cassino, Italy where Polish forces suffered substantial casualties.

After the end of WWII he was designated as a Displaced Person under the United Nations charter and was welcomed to Canada. He was always grateful and remained a proud Canadian citizen to his passing.

Visitors will be received on Sunday, June 24th from 2 to 6 p.m. at Paul O’Connor Funeral Home, 1939 Lawrence Ave. E., Scarborough. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 3216 Lawrence Ave. E., Scarborough, on Monday, June 25th at 10:30 a.m.

Burial to take place afterwards at Holy Cross Cemetery, 8361 Yonge St., Thornhill.
