TOWERS, Herbert AlanĀ It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Herbert Alan Towers at St. Joseph’s Life Care Centre on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 in his 91st year. He leaves his loving wife Jean (nee Lane) of over 72 years, his devoted sons Doug (Brenda) and Ted (Violet). He has three loving grandchildren Tammy (John), Shane (Alicia) and Ashley (Chris) along with three great-grandchildren Dakota, Jarrett and little Bronwynn. He was predeceased by his mother Margaret Bowen and father Alan Towers, his sister Marcia (George), brother Ted (Jean). Left to mourn him are his brother Wes (Pat predeceased) half brothers and sister Alan (Sally) Warren, Gail, Linda (predeceased), Wayne (predeceased) and Greg Bowen. He leaves numerous nieces and nephews.

Herb was a horseman all his life and was a founding member of the WHAO (Western Horse Association of Ontario). He showed, hudged and announced horse shows across Canada into the US for over 50 years. He did two years with CHCH TV in Hamilton as host of a one hour western movie show in 1956. He went on to learn horse shoeing with Slim Norsworthy and studied to be a judge of several breeds of horses. His most rewarding talent was teaching the youth to ride.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 13, 2018 from 1-4 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, 145 West Street, Brantford (one block from the train station).
