OEDVOLK, William Abraham It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving husband, father and grandfather. After a lifelong battle with life William was called home on February 25, 2018. Faithful and loving husband to Joan whom he loved dearly for 43 years. Ever caring and loving father of Timothy, Ernst, Belinda, Shane, Earl and Shannon. Cherished and adored grandfather of Luke, Simon, Madison, Lauren, Lionel and Leandra. He will be sadly missed yet fondly remembered for all the times they enjoyed together. Only son of Abraham and Henrietta Goedvolk (predeceased).
From childhood he knew the struggles of life yet above all this he always maintained a cheerful disposition. His fortitude and desire to achieve will never be forgotten. Through all the pain he always displayed the excitement of living. His career as a bank manager in South Africa was always dominated by his attitude to life and his philosophy of honesty within the workplace. He was the Music Director of Christ the King Church for 22 years. There he found a niche to expand his talents.
This was where his love of music found expression in furthering his faith and belief in knowing that He was always with him. Essentially he was a family man who demonstrated the best qualities of loyalty and unconditional love. He will be dearly missed and will leave a void in our family.
Visitation and a Service of Praise and Thanksgiving, Celebrating the Life and Living of William will be held at Christ the King Church, 475 Rathburn Road, Etobicoke, Ontario, on Saturday, March 3, 2018. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. with the service beginning at 11 a.m.
It was William’s wish that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Church of Christ the King, Etobicoke. Condolences may be left at www.glenoaks.ca
