AILEEN REIKO YOKOTA

AILEEN REIKO YOKOTA

YOKOTA, AILEEN REIKO (nee TAKATA) Passed peacefully to her heavenly home in her 79th year. Predeceased by her parents, Reiji and Tokiwa (Ohori) Takata, brother Gordon. Leaving behind husband Stanley Yokota, son Darryn Yokota (Teresa) and brother Ken Takata (Joyce) (Edmonton, AB).

Aileen will be deeply missed by many relatives, friends from church, curling, lawn bowling, teachers and the Japanese community. Aileen made her mark as an elementary school teacher (grade 1-4) for over 35 years primarily at the Roden Public School in East Toronto.

Before and after her retirement, she enjoyed many trips in travelling to the USA, Japan, Europe and across Canada. Aileen was a keen competitor in curling during the winter and lawn bowling in the summer, winning several trophies. As a Pastor’s wife, Aileen hosted many gatherings of various events in her home. She enjoyed gardening and conversing with all her adjacent neighbours. In recent months, Aileen was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer. She very much appreciated in-home care provided by Doctor Marcus, Nurse Andy and PSWs. Always, friends and family provided food, support and care during her time of illness.

Aileen’s strong faith in Jesus Christ her Savior assured her peace and preparedness for her eventual death. All floral tributes gratefully declined. Any written tributes may be posted on the website of arbormemorial.ca/mcdbrown-scarborough/obituaries/aileen-reiko-yokota/66503/. Photos and Aileen’s story can be seen on the website. In appreciation for her life, please make any donations to either: the Japanese Gospel Church of Toronto, Momiji Health Care Society ot the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre.
