Al DUNCAN
DUNCAN, Al Roy Allan Duncan passed peacefully at his home in Stoney Creek, on January 26, 2017 in his 75th year. Eldest son of the late John and Dorothy Duncan. Saddened by Al’s loss is his wife, caregiver, and best friend Carolyn. Survived by his children, Cathy, Tim, Leslie Ann, and families. Brother to Rick, John, Ken, Marge, and families. He will also be remembered by the extended Johnston family. Big Al was loved and will be missed. Al was always known as a fun loving guy and after high school, he joined the Royal Canadian Navy. He was stationed at the Cornwallis Naval Base and served his country. It was at Cornwallis, where Al took up swimming and set a Cornwallis Naval Base record in the pool. He was always proud of this achievement. He was a member of Local 67 Steamfitters and Pipefitters and after serving his apprenticeship, he spent most of his 50 years in the trade as a superintendent. He made many friends, travelled and enjoyed his work. Al had many hobbies and driving a stock car was one of his favourites. Going to the track was always an enjoyable experience, as a driver and in the stands, he will be remembered by many fans and other drivers. Al was also a great fisherman, or at least he thought he was. Special thanks to those who were there for him during his illness. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME , 1919 King St. E. (between Cochrane and Rosedale) on Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 1 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service which will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. www.dermodys.com
