Alexander James FAULKNER

Alex passed peacefully on the evening of February 15, 2017 at Credit Valley Hospital in his 87th year. He was able to defeat many illnesses against all odds, with his undying spirit and incredible will to live. He succumbed to complications of double pneumonia after a lengthy stay at hospital. A special thanks to all the staff at Credit Valley Hospital for their efforts and warm heart when it was most needed. Alex was predeceased by his wife of 62 years Betty Faulkner. He will be deeply missed by his sister Isabel Hoskins, his children Diane (Dennis), Gord (Susan), Debbie. Alex will be forever remembered by his grandchildren Stuart (Alison), Daniel (Lisa), Joel (Melissa), Michael and Heather, also his great-grandchildren Jack, Charlotte and Emma. Alex and his son Gord ran a family appliance business on the Lake Shore started in 1946 by his father. He later ran for Councillor for the then city of Etobicoke and was undefeated until his retirement. His passion for the community that he loved was evident to all that knew him and he happily represented them for many years. Friends and family will be received at Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lake Shore Blvd. W. (at 14th St., between Islington and Kipling Aves., 416-259-3705) on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 from 6-9 p.m. and Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 10 a.m. – 12 noon. The service will commence immediately after at 12 noon with a reception to follow.
