ANNA JANOSCIK Anna passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 28, 2016 at the age of 93. Anna lived a full and rich life surrounded by family and friends. Anna was born in Stara Lubovna, Czechoslovakia on December 30, 1922 where she met and married the love of her life, John. Anna gave birth to two boys in Czechoslovakia, Joseph and Rudy. John escaped the communist regime to get a head start on the family’s new life in Canada in the early 1950s, leaving Anna to raise two young boys on her own. A few years later, Anna followed John to Canada, courageously escaping the communist regime and living in Austrian refugee camps alone with her two young sons. Anna and John forged a new life together for their family once reunited in Canada. They gave birth to a third son, Edward, in Toronto and raised and educated their boys, teaching them to love and thrive in their new country. Anna was predeceased by her husband, John, and son, Rudy. She is survived by her sons Joseph (Ann-Marie) and Edward. Anna’s memory will be treasured by her 4 grandchildren: Julie (Bill), Jason (Ulrike), Tamara (Ted) and Geoffrey (Nina) and her 7 great-grandchildren: Kate, William, Brooke, Jonathan, Leo, Jakob and Jackson. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Anna’s memory at a visitation to be held Wednesday, August 31, 2016 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Turner & Porter Funeral Home, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga and Funeral Mass on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Slovak Roman Catholic Church, 5255 Thornwood Dr., Mississauga.
