ROMKES, Annigje (nee Kwant) Taken into the light in the early morning of May 24, 2017 at Wentworth Lodge at the age of 85. Beloved wife of the late Jack Romkes and mother to Sietze (Brenda), John, Ria (Randy), Chris, Adriana, Allan (Cindy) and Gerald. She will be sadly missed by her cherished grandchildren; Shane, Jim (Ruth), Meghan (Ryan), Kristine, Kevin (Caitlin), A.J., Alaina (Bill), Kyle and Krista (Kurt) and (11) great-grandchildren and (1) great-great-grandchild. Survived by her beloved brothers, Jan and Egbert Jan of Holland. Predeceased by her sister Lummie and grandson Willie. At the age of 22, together with her husband, she left her country and loving family to come to Canada. Together they owned and operated their business Greensville Custom Furniture Upholstery. Widowed at age of 41, she continued to raise her family of 7 and work until she was afflicted with Alzheimer’s Disease. She lived out these years with dignity and grace and will be remembered for her smiles! Easily loved by all, including the caring and compassionate staff at Wentworth Lodge, she will be sadly missed! Family will receive friends at WESTDALE REFORMED CHURCH, 201 Paradise Road N., Hamilton on Saturday, May 27, 2017 from 10 a.m., until the time of Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Reception to follow. Private family interment to be held at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
